Blue Turtle Seduction

I gotta tell ya, I have been listening to the Ritual and BTS shows you recorded at the Independent last weekend and all I can say is WOW! You didn't miss a beat. I am so used to listening to recordings of live show and have come to live with all the crowd "noise." Not an issue with these recordings. Jordan's vocals from Ritual is soulful and rich. I especially appreciate how clear Christian's electric mando comes across. Thanks again for all that you do my friends to keep the spirit of live music alive long after last call!

CZ Quartet featuring the High Beams

Connecticut Yankee - San Francisco, CA (2/5/10)

1. Opened beautifully with a tingle and peaceful as a nap in the hammock on Sunday afternoon. Clearly refreshing and smooth not lacking or flat. Guitar riffs coming in like the breeze.
2. Although I was in my room alone, this song made me wish my car was packed with friend’s sunroof open, road tripping up the coast. You know the kind of drive you wish could freeze time and never end.
3. Ever jump rope when you were a little kid? Well…. double dutch rhythm brought me into it. WOW – is that a wa-wa bar or a distressed scuba diver? Definitely, original but lingered a little too long for my taste and mellowed out a bit. Ah, the organ, who doesn’t love the organ?
4. Okay, I’m sad now. I feel it. Isn’t that what music is supposed to do – make you feel? Mission accomplished and thank you for not making me feel lonely too! His song definitely let me have my blanket.
5. Here we go back to the starting line – WAIT – pass me one of those beers from the cooler.
6. Being a Louisiana girl – I love the intro – French Quarter here we come!
7. Teenagers-Bass-Blacklift posters – this is definitely the song everyone wants to hear – Xylophone TOO!! My favorite instrument.

Five Eyed Hand

I really enjoy live music as the art it is. But i also enjoy the great quality to listen to and to also play during my exercise classes i teach. I love the long jams and the quick songs to help me to motivate my students on their rides but also enjoy listening to music at home and in my car. All of the music i order from BRO is awesome quality and the mail service could not be quicker. The customer service is so friendly and helpful. If you happen to order the wrong item and let them know they are so kind and take care of any issue quickly. I will continue to order from them and you should as well.

Garaj Mahal

Garaj Mahal is one of those bands universally respected for their instrumental prowess yet can't seem to get over the hump in terms of popularity. After listening to these two shows from last November it’s easy to see why. Like the fusion of Miles Davis, much of this stuff isn't sugarcoated for the average listener. But those who get it, really get it. The Bay Recorders Organization swooped into San Francisco and Petaluma to capture these concerts in crystalline audio.

Each night the band comes out swinging, diving right into its complex compositions. One can’t ask for much more in a rhythm section than what you get from Alan Hertz and Kai Eckhart. Hertz’s drumming is death-defying at points. The relentless, fluid bass-runs by Eckhart are occasionally mind-warping.

The band has delved deeper into a global sound, pulling off a few multi-cultural experiments. Fareed Haque's guitar/sitar hybrid makes a few memorable appearances. This reviewer loved the first disc of each show and felt like the band faded as the shows progressed. The first set of the Mystic Theater represents Garaj Mahal at its best. Buckle your seatbelt for "The Shadow."

The New Mastersounds

Customer quote from New Mastersounds 04.21.2007 show at 12 Galaxies, San Francisco, CA

The New Mastersounds bridge the divide between funk and jazz with such a smooth transition that it has to be heard to fully appreciate. This Green Apple Festival selection is of pristine quality and you couldn't ask for a better mix of songs and special guests. The disks offer a wide range of great jams, but Eddie Roberts really shines on "Eazin' Down" along side Dan Liebowitz & DJ Motion Potion. Check out Joe Conti's awesome harmonica playing on "Thirty Three" for an additional surprise. I can't wait to see some more funky selections from Bayrecorders !!!

I just wanted to say Thanks again! I'm sitting here at work listening to the beautiful recording of the New Mastersounds Live at 12 Galaxies from April 21 late night party! It's a very good recording, and I'm picky. I have been a taper since 1982, and I REALLY appreciate the quality! So, thanks for continuing to provide this service!
